Products
The Coag-Sense PT2 measures PT/INR from a fingertip sample in less than a minute. The portable Edan i15 measures blood gases, electrolytes, glucose, lactate and haematocrit on a single-use cartridge. Fujifilm's DRI-CHEM NX10N measures blood ammonia in about two minutes, and the NX600 measures 15 chemistry tests in about nine minutes.
In Finland we supply point-of-care instruments and accessories from Coag-Sense, Edan and Fujifilm. We install the instruments and train the users.

Applications
Monitoring warfarin therapy
INR in less than a minute
The PT2 measures the true prothrombin time from a 10–12 µl fingertip sample. Each strip pack contains low and high level control strips.
Blood gases and electrolytes
Result in one minute
The i15 measures pH, blood gases, electrolytes, glucose, lactate and haematocrit from a 140 µl sample, or 80 µl with a Microsample cartridge. The battery lasts for 50 samples.
Blood ammonia
In about 2 minutes
The NX10N measures ammonia from a 10 µl whole blood or plasma sample, measuring range 7–357 µmol/l. The instrument weighs 1.2 kg.
Chemistry in the clinic
15 tests in about 9 minutes
The NX600 measures 28 colorimetric tests plus sodium, potassium and chloride without a water connection. The plasma filter separates plasma from whole blood.
Choosing a point-of-care instrument
INR is measured with the Coag-Sense PT2, blood gases and lactate with the i15, blood ammonia with the NX10N, and a broader chemistry panel, such as liver and kidney function tests, CRP and electrolytes, with the NX600.
The PT2 measures only fresh capillary blood from the fingertip. The i15 cartridge draws in the whole blood sample itself. The NX10N accepts whole blood or plasma, and the NX600 a tube sample.
The PT2 weighs 315 g, and its battery lasts for about 100 tests. The i15 runs 50 samples on battery and has a built-in printer. The NX10N weighs 1.2 kg and runs on a power adapter. The NX600 is a benchtop instrument.
The PT2 control strips are run for each new strip lot, and the QC lockout prevents patient measurements if a control fails. Quality assurance for the i15 includes a calibrator, 3-level or 5-level controls and an electronic simulator. Fujifilm instruments read the slide lot data from the QC card.

Can the PT2 measure a venous sample?
No. The Coag-Sense PT2 measures only fresh capillary blood from the fingertip.
Does the i15 need maintenance?
According to Edan, the i15 requires no maintenance. The cartridges are stored at room temperature.
Which control is used for the NX10N?
Fujifilm's CONTROL QN is an ammonia control for NH3 slides. The pack contains two 3 ml bottles.
