Fujifilm's DRI-CHEM NX600V and NX700V measure 23 colorimetric tests plus sodium, potassium and chloride from a 10 µl sample, including canine CRP and lipase. Edan's H30 Vet and H60 Vet give a 3-part or 5-part blood count with species-specific algorithms, and the portable i15 VET measures blood gases, electrolytes and lactate in one minute.

In Finland we supply Fujifilm veterinary DRI-CHEM analysers with their slides and Edan analysers. We install the instruments and train the users.

Biochemistry in the clinic

The NX600V measures one sample at a time with ready-made panels. In the IC model, whole blood is centrifuged in the instrument, so plasma is not separated by hand.

High sample volumes

5 samples, 190 tests/h

The NX700V takes five samples at a time and runs an urgent sample mid-run with the STAT function. The range also includes kidney, liver and equine panels.

Blood count

3-part or 5-part

The H30 Vet separates white cells into three groups and the H60 Vet into five. Both have ready-made algorithms for 14 species, and an unlimited number of custom species can be added.

Blood gases and electrolytes

The i15 VET measures pH, blood gases, electrolytes, glucose, lactate and haematocrit on a single-use cartridge. The instrument is portable and battery-powered.

Choosing instruments for your clinic

  • The DRI-CHEM NX600V and NX700V measure biochemistry tests and electrolytes. The H30 Vet and H60 Vet provide the blood count. The i15 VET measures blood gases, lactate and calcium.

  • The NX600V measures one sample at a time, up to 128 tests per hour. The NX700V takes five samples at a time and measures up to 190 tests per hour. In haematology, the H30 Vet runs 50 and the H60 Vet 60 tests per hour.

  • Edan's analysers have ready-made algorithms for cat, dog, horse, cattle, pig, sheep, goat, rabbit, rat, mouse, monkey, camel, llama and panda. DRI-CHEM's v-LIP-P, v-AMY-P and vc-CRP-P slides are made for veterinary use. The other slides are made for human blood, and according to Fujifilm, results may vary by species. The equine panel is part of the NX700V range.

  • DRI-CHEM uses 10 µl per test, CRP 5 µl and electrolytes 50 µl. The H30 Vet needs 6.5 µl and the H60 Vet 16 µl of whole blood. The i15 VET cartridge needs 140 µl, the Microsample cartridge 80 µl.

  • The i15 VET is battery-powered and has a built-in printer. The cartridges are stored at room temperature. The other instruments are benchtop units weighing 18–33 kg.

Glossary

S-panel

The slides for one examination, bundled together. The bundle is placed in the slide cartridge and the binding tape is removed.

IC cup

The centrifuge cup of the NX600V IC. After separation, plasma collects at the bottom of the cup, and the instrument measures it from there.

v-LIP-P, v-AMY-P and vc-CRP-P

Lipase, amylase and canine CRP slides made for veterinary use.

QC card

A card in the slide pack from which the analyser reads the lot data.

Microsample

A cartridge version for the i15 VET with a sample volume of 80 µl.

What is the difference between the NX600V and the NX600V IC?

The IC model has a built-in centrifuge. Whole blood is dispensed into the IC cup, and the instrument separates and measures the plasma itself. Centrifugation adds about two minutes to the measuring time per sample.

Are DRI-CHEM slides suitable for all species?

The v-LIP-P, v-AMY-P and vc-CRP-P slides are made for veterinary use. The other slides are made for analysing human blood, and according to Fujifilm, results may vary by species.

How often do Edan haematology analysers need maintenance?

The H30 Vet every 100 tests and the H60 Vet every 50 tests. The H30 Vet reminds you when maintenance is due.
