How FlashLink works
The logger is mounted outside the cabinet and the probe is placed in the middle of the cabinet. The display shows the current, lowest, highest and average temperature without the door being opened. There are two alarm levels, upper and lower limits and extreme limits, both indicated by the display, an LED and a beep.
When the logger is stopped and connected to a computer's USB port, it appears as a drive containing ready-made PDF and CSV files. No software is needed. Recording can be restarted with the buttons, and alarm limits and the logging interval are changed with FlashLink Program Manager software (21 CFR Part 11).
In model 40527, the stainless steel probe sits in a 5 ml propylene glycol bottle that mimics the temperature of liquids stored in the cabinet, so opening the door does not cause false alarms. 40527 is WHO PQS prequalified (E006/047). In the ULT models, the probe measures down to −82 °C. 40570 has a thin probe on a 1 metre PTFE cable and is also suitable for storage and transport on dry ice. The 40571 probe sits in an aluminium buffer on a 3 metre PTFE cable, and besides ULT freezers it is also suitable for standard freezers and refrigerators.
Every model is available in a -01 version with a two-year ISO 17025 calibration certificate (A2LA). The basic model comes with the manufacturer's certificate of conformity, and a one-year NIST calibration certificate is available.

PDF report from the USB port
When the logger is stopped, it creates PDF and CSV reports in its own memory. On a computer, the logger appears as a drive named FlashLink, from which the files are saved. The first page of the report has a summary and a graph, and the following pages list all readings in a table.
Save the files before resetting the logger, because a reset clears the memory. The probe can stay in the cabinet when the logger is disconnected from the cable.
